Es una recopilación, que tiene muchos grupos conocidos, pero la particularidad es tener canciones, en su mayoría, que nunca fueran editadas (ni en originales, ni en rediciones).

Mientras el compilado original de Nuggets se centraba en el rock de Estados Unidos, el segundo Nuggets desplazo su foco hacia el resto del mundo, incluyendo temas de bandas del Reino Unido (The Pretty Things y The Small Faces), Canadá (The Guess Who y The Haunted), Japón (The Mops), Australia (The Easybeats, The Masters Apprentices), Peru (We All Together) y Brasil (Os Mutantes) entre otros.
